Another Beautiful Addition to York Museum Gardens situated in the heart of York! Another 6ft (1.80m) York wooden bench is on its way to the stunning York Museum Gardens. This popular public space, located right in the city center, is known for its lush greenery and serene atmosphere, making it a perfect spot for a leisurely stroll or a peaceful sit-down.

If you find yourself wandering through the charming streets of York, make sure to take a stroll through the York Museum Gardens. Nestled right in the heart of the city, these beautiful botanic gardens sit alongside the River Ouse and cover a sprawling 10 acres (that’s about 4 hectares for our metric friends!).

Originally part of the grounds of St Mary’s Abbey, the gardens were established in the 1830s by the Yorkshire Philosophical Society. They’re not just a pretty face; they also house the Yorkshire Museum, which is a must-visit for history buffs.

Designed in a gardenesque style by the talented landscape architect Sir John Murray Naysmith, the gardens are a feast for the eyes. You’ll find a diverse array of plants, trees, and even some lovely birds flitting about. Throughout the year, the gardens host a variety of events, including open-air theatre performances and festive activities. It’s a vibrant place that buzzes with life!

We love this place and are so pleased more of our Black York wooden benches are heading that way.

What’s special about this bench? It’s powder coated black, which not only looks fantastic but also fits perfectly with the traditional vibe of the area. The classic design complements the beautiful surroundings, ensuring that visitors can enjoy both comfort and style.

So, next time you’re in York, make sure to check out the gardens and take a moment to relax on one of these lovely benches. Happy exploring!
