A new wooden bench for the Yorkshire Arboretum, Castle Howard

Posted on November 12, 2024

Nestled near Malton in North Yorkshire, England, the Yorkshire Arboretum is a collaborative effort between Castle Howard Estates and the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew. Since its establishment in 1959, this arboretum has grown to feature over 6,000 trees, including some rare and endangered varieties, all spread across a sprawling 128 acres.

This destination attracts many visitors, showcasing a breathtaking landscape filled with parkland, serene lakes, and tranquil ponds. It’s an excellent spot for a day out with family and friends, complete with a woodland playground, a shop, and a café for a well earned cuppa!

For more than two decades, our company has joyfully supplied wooden benches to the illustrious Castle Howard and The Yorkshire Arboretum. These breathtaking spots, rich in history and natural splendour, have become the very definition of quality and craftsmanship, and we’re absolutely thrilled to have contributed to their lasting legacy.

Recently, we had the pleasure of installing a brand-new bench at the Yorkshire Arboretum, seizing the moment to capture the tranquil charm of the gardens while showcasing some of our existing benches that are already gracing the grounds. The photographs beautifully reveal the timeless elegance of our benches, effortlessly harmonizing with the picturesque landscape.

This 120-acre canvas of calm, serves as a delightful retreat not just for a variety of plant life but also as a dedicated sanctuary for our furry friends, the red squirrels. This enchanting place has embarked on a mission to boost the red squirrel population in the UK, creating a safe breeding ground.

The red squirrel enclosure, lovingly crafted by a team of passionate staff and volunteers provides them with nourishing food, veterinary attention, and all the necessary infrastructure to thrive and while it's aim is to increase the number of red squirrels, it also serves to enlighten visitors about the challenges posed by their grey counterparts and the impact on the broader woodland ecosystem.

The wooden benches we delivered today were three York benches. They join many previously installed York benches at the Yorkshire Arboretum and we cannot wait to see them installed.

These sturdy benches, celebrated for their timeless design, will be thoughtfully positioned across the arboretum’s picturesque grounds, lush gardens, and tranquil lakeside spots.

The York bench, a standout creation from the company, is crafted to offer a cozy nook for weary wanderers. The arboretum is buzzing with excitement, anticipating that these new benches will be happily embraced by the many visitors who come to soak in the serene splendour of this lovely haven.
